Concerto Aria 1999 showcases exceptional musicians
For a student musician, the opportunity to perform on a concert stage with full orchestral accompaniment is usually a remote possibility, perhaps to be realized after years of lessons, arduous practice, and countless auditions. For five student musicians from the Augsburg College Music Department, this opportunity will be realized on Monday, February 22, at Augsburg's annual Concerto Aria gala concert. Selected by competitive audition to represent the best of the college's musical talent, these five will perform as soloists accompanied by the Concerto Aria orchestra, conducted by Paul Ousley. The 8 pm concert will be held in Hoversten Chapel on the Augsburg campus, at 22nd Avenue South and Riverside, Minneapolis. The event is free and open to all, and a reception will follow the concert.
This year's Concerto Aria competition winners are soprano Anna Brandsoy, tenor Aaron Gabriel, soprano Jennifer Grimm, French horn player Hu Qiu Xia, mezzo-soprano Nicole Warner.
