Augsburg College students to donate new athletic equipment to Cedar-Riverside School on Thursday
A group of more than 25 Augsburg College students will donate more than $350 worth of new athletic equipment to Cedar-Riverside School children in a 12:30 p.m. presentation Thursday in the Brian Coyle Community Center Gym.
More than 160 students from kindergarten through 8th grade from Cedar-Riverside School will be on hand to receive the equipment from the Augsburg students.
Among the new items that will be donated to the school are 30 different types of balls, eight jump ropes, two sets of floor hockey equipment and bases for kickball. The Gopher Athletic Company enabled the Augsburg students to purchase the equipment at a substantial discount and delivered it free of charge.
The Augsburg students have been teaching physical education classes this fall at Cedar-Riverside School under the direction of Joyce Pfaff, an associate professor of health and physical education at Augsburg.
The college students recognized that there was a lack of adequate athletic equipment at the school and decided to donate the new equipment as a culminating class project.
