Kraus-Anderson Construction Company to endow American Indian Scholarship at Augsburg College
Kraus-Anderson Construction Company has pledged $100,000 to help endow an American Indian Scholarship at Augsburg College, announced Bruce Engelsma, chairman of Kraus-Anderson Companies, Inc.
Kraus-Anderson's donation is one of the founding gifts which brings the total amount of endowed scholarship money for American Indian students at Augsburg to approximately $600,000.
The American Indian Scholarship, to be initially awarded this fall, will be awarded annually to American Indian students of any class or major, based upon academic performance and financial need.
In the fall of 1998, 53 American Indian students were enrolled at Augsburg. Fourteen American Indian students graduated from the College on May 23, including three students from master's degree programs. One American Indian student will graduate in August from the physician's assistant program.
Past Augsburg American Indian graduates are now working in a variety of career fields, to include medicine, law, marketing, human resources, education, social work, sales, business administration and broadcasting.Augsburg is a private college of the liberal arts and sciences and is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Nearly 3,000 students are enrolled at the College in undergraduate day college, Weekend College and graduate programs. Augsburg combines academics with experience to best educate students for leadership in a global, multicultural society.
