Augsburg senior Natalie Lund to be featured in
ABC television preview of Miss America contestants
Augsburg College senior Natalie Lund, 21, of New Brighton, Minn., who won the Miss Minnesota pageant on June 19 in St. Cloud, Minn., will be one of 51 women featured in a one-hour primetime television special that will air on ABC from 8-9 p.m. (CDT) on Thursday, Sept. 16.
The program, titled "Up Close & Personal ... The Search for Miss America 2000," will allow viewers a capsule look at each of the 51 contestants competing for the Miss America crown on Saturday, Sept. 18.
Each contestant, along with her family members and friends, will talk about growing up, her hopes, dreams and other personal details.
Footage was taken of the contestants in their daily lives at home, school, work and in their communities. Part of the segment about Lund was filmed on the Augsburg campus.
The Miss America pageant will be broadcast on ABC on Saturday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. (CDT) from Atlantic City, N.J.
Lund, the second Augsburg student to win the Miss Minnesota pageant (Judy Lerstad Hill won in 1962), won the right to compete in the Miss Minnesota pageant by winning the Miss Central Minnesota pageant earlier this year.
A communications major at Augsburg, Lund will be postponing her college studies for a year.
