Warner first student at Augsburg College to earn first place in NATS Competition
Nicole Warner, junior at Augsburg College in Minneapolis and daughter of Greg and Sharon Warner of New Richmond, participated in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) in November at St. John's University in Collegeville, Minn. Her outstanding performance earned her first place in division 5a, for younger, college-aged women.
This is the first time an Augsburg student has earned this honor. In addition to carrying the distinction of first place, Warner also won a cash prize, a certificate, and a sweatshirt.
Warner is a vocal performance major at the college. Susan Druck, Warner's voice instructor at Augsburg College said, "Nicole is a strong, dedicated, and focused student." Warner also sings in the Masterworks Chorale of Augsburg College, a unique mix of Augsburg College alumni, day students, Weekend College students, faculty, staff, and community friends that has established itself as a dynamic choral ensemble in the Twin Cities.
Augsburg College music students have immediate access to internationally renowned professional organizations including the Minnesota Orchestra, The St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, The Schubert Club, and the Plymouth Music Series. Augsburg College takes advantage of resources in the city for student learning and careers. Many of the music faculty members are active professionals around the Twin Cities area, which opens many doors for performance opportunities and experiences for students.
