Augsburg alum, Martin Olav Sabo ’59, honored with lecture series at the University of Minnesota
Congressman Martin Olav Sabo, 59, spoke at the inaugural event of The Martin Olav Sabo Lecture Series on Monday, April 15, 2002, at Cowles Auditorium, Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, University of Minnesota, with a speech titled, "A Vision for Public Service."
According to the Humphrey Institute, the lecture series is a forum for distinguished individuals to address the challenges of public service for our states and nation. This series honors the public service career of Sabo and will feature notable speakers who have established themselves in the field of public service.
Congressman Sabo, who represents the Fifth Congressional District, graduated from Augsburg in 1959 and has completed graduate work at the University of Minnesota. Sabo has been involved in public service for more than three decades. He was first elected to Congress in 1978, after serving in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1961 to 1978.
