Nontombi Naomi Tutu: keynote speaker at 10th Annual
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation at Augsburg College
Nontombi Naomi Tutu, daughter of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, will be the keynote speaker at the 10th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation at Augsburg College on Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, 1 p.m. Hoversten Chapel, Foss Center, 22nd and Riverside Aves.
Tutu, born in Krugersdorp, South Africa, holds a BA from Berea College and an MA from the University of Kentucky. She is the program coordinator of the Race Relations Institute at Fisk University. Tutu has served in Africa and the U.S. addressing issues of discrimination, racism and sexism.
The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation is an annual observance of the legacy of the leader. It is also a reflection of the civil rights movement and is a call to action to address on-going global issues of racism, injustice, poverty and oppression.
The Convocation is being sponsored by: Center for Service, Work and Learning: Diversity Committee; International Student Organization; Pan-Afrikan Center Student Union; and the Sociology Club.
