Nobel Peace Prize Forum to be held Feb. 14 - 15
The Fifteenth Annual Nobel Peace Prize Forum will take place Feb. 14-15, 2003, at Concordia College (Moorhead). This year's theme is "Striving for Peace: A World Without Borders." The keynote speaker is Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Undersecretary-General for Communications and Public Information at the U.N., where he has served in several capacities since 1978. Other speakers include: Richard C. Holbrooke, former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N.; and Walter F. Mondale, former Vice-President of the U.S. and U.S. Ambassador to Japan.
Held in cooperation with the Norwegian Nobel Institute in Oslo, the forum series was created to offer an opportunity for Nobel Peace Prize laureates, diplomats, scholars and the general public to take part in a dialogue on the underlying causes and manifestations of conflict and war in modern society, and on the dynamics of peacemaking. The Forum is sponsored by the following colleges: Augsburg (Minneapolis, MN), Augustana (Sioux Falls, SD), Luther (Decorah, IA), Concordia (Moorhead, MN), and St. Olaf (Northfield, MN).
