Augsburg evening of jazz to feature Swedish pianist, Nils Lindberg
Swedish jazz legend, Nils Lindberg, will be a guest artist as part of an evening of jazz hosted by Augsburg College, Thursday, December 9, at 7 p.m. in Hoversten Chapel. All are invited to this event, which is free and open to the public with a freewill donation at the door.
Lindberg's music is an original blend of Swedish folk music and jazz. His breakthrough came in 1960 with the album Sax Appeal but one of his most successful and popular works has been Swedish jazz classic, Seven Dalecarlian Paintings. His latest album Third Saxes Galore was issued in 2000 and features some of Sweden’s finest musicians. Performing will be the Gospel Praise singers, the Augsburg Jazz Band, and a faculty jazz quartet, all led by Dr. Robert Stacke. The repertoire will include several jazz classics as well as works by Lindberg.
It's guaranteed to be a great night of music! For more information regarding this special concert call the Augsburg College Music Department at 612-330-1265.
