Augsburg Honors Program presents "Four Vignettes: Exploring the Minds of C.S. Lewis and Sigmund Freud"
Exactly what place do Sigmund Freud and C.S. Lewis' arguments on God, happiness, and the pursuit of Truth hold for humankind in the twentieth century? The questions have been debated time and time again, but perhapsnever in such a way as the first-year Augsburg College Honors students will utilize come this Saturday evening.
Early in September, the first-year honors students embarked on a rather daunting journey in their Hon 120 course, "The Scholar Citizen". The challenge? To produce and perform four student-written vignettes that explore God, love, sex, and the meaning of life through the dissenting opinions of C.S. Lewis and Sigmund Freud.
In less than two months, meeting a mere one time a week, the students (under the guidance of Augsburg Honors graduate Erica Huls) have answered this challenge. And while one may not leave the performance with specific answers to these fundamental philosophical problems of life, the audience member is guaranteed an evening of entertainment and a rather unique glimpse into Lewis and Freud's assessment of the human predicament in an eloquent and, at times, comical manner.
The performance is a one-time-only event you will not want to miss starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, November 19th in Sateren Auditorium.
There will be a short reception following the performance.
Admission is free to the public.
