Minnesota sculptor loans piece to Augsburg
Award-winning Minnesota sculptor Sam Spiczka has loaned his 14 foot welded Cor-Ten steel sculpture to Augsburg College until May 2007. The sculpture titled “Kubrick” is located on the LIndell Library lawn. The title references film maker Stanley Kubrick whose films such as "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "A Clockwork Orange" have influenced Spiczka’s desire to explore in three dimensions the disparity between striving for an ideal and encountering an imperfect reality.
Spiczka's solo exhibition "Relquiae" opens in the Gage Family Art Gallery on Sept. 15 and runs through Oct. 27.
