Chrislock lecture features award-winning author
The Carl H. Chrislock Memorial History Lecture will take place on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Marshall Room of Christensen Center. There will be a reception to follow.
Brenda J. Child, who is an associate professor of history in the Department of American Studies at the University of Minnesota, will be giving the lecture in honor of the former Augsburg College history professor.
Brenda J. Child is the author of Boarding School Seasons: American Indian Families (1998), which won the North American Indian Prose Award. She serves on the boards of the Minnesota Historical Society, the Division of Indian Work, The Circle, and the Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 2003, Child received the President’s Outstanding Community Service Award from the University of Minnesota.
Child was born on the Red Lake Reservation in northern Minnesota, where she is a tribal member.
